PETRONAS ICT Idol 2016, PETRONAS Group ICT's inaugural talent search event held on 5 November uncovered gifted singers among its employees. The contest's finale was held in conjunction with the PETRONAS Group ICT Sports Carnival at Stadium Panasonic, Shah Alam.

Close to 15 vocalists from Group ICT had either attended a live audition on 14 October 2016 or submitted a five-minute video for its preliminary round. Its panel of judges comprised of illustrious Carnatic singer Dr Thanaletchumi Sathasivam from Business Function-Operational Excellence, Rozaire A Razak from Business Function Support, M Ikzalhadim Mat Zin from Employee Relations and Norbadariah Bahadon from Contract Management.

Although there were many talented performers to choose from, the judges only shortlisted nine outstanding performers to advance to the semi-final stage on 21 October, which was held at the Group ICT Employee Recreation Club Room in Menara Perak.

A large crowd turned up at the semi-finals to cheer on their colleagues who were battling it out for a spot in the finals. The competition was intense, but there was only room for five top talents – the following made it to the final stage:

1. Azman Amasasi from BF Production-Supply Chain
2. Richi Cravley Jaitin from Talent Acquisition & Organisation Development
3. M Hanifamie Atong from BF Support-Business Process & Change Management
4. Saza Adlina M Zazali from BF Support-Business Process & Change Management
5. Suzieana Uda Nagu @ Uda Naguib from Strategic Communications

To help the finalists prepare for a show-stopping performance, they were treated to a private vocal coaching session with Syafizawati Shariff (better known as Cikgu Shafi), a celebrity vocal coach and trainer to Akademi Fantasia contestants. Armed with valuable insights gained from the coaching session, the finalists then trained hard with a live band that backed up their performances at the finale.

The final round of PETRONAS ICT Idol 2016 was held in tandem with the Group ICT Sports Carnival. Finalists dressed to impress and put on a performance to remember.

Judges for the final round – Dr Thanaletchumi, Izwan Ibrahim (Chief Operating Officer) and Rosehaida Abd Rahman (General Manager, Human Resources), had a tough time deciding on the winners.

Saza Adlina's powerful rendition of Dan Tak Mungkin won her the coveted title of PETRONAS ICT Idol 2016, as well as the prize for Best Vocalist. First and second runners-up were Suzieana and Richi respectively, whilst Hanifamie's showmanship bagged him the prize for Best Performance.
