The PETRONAS Group ICT football club, PETRONAS Group ICT FC, secured the third spot in Group A at the recently concluded Liga Bola Sepak KSRP (LBK) 2016, the football league for PETRONAS Sports and Recreational Club.

Group A comprised of:

  • PETRONAS Group ICT FC.
  • Pata Timo FC from PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad (PDB) & PETRONAS   Gas Berhad (PGB) in Kerteh, Terengganu.
  • PCOGD FCfrom PETRONAS Chemical Olefins, Glycol & Derivatives (PCOGD), Kerteh, Terengganu.
  • HRCS FC from Human Resource Centralised Services, Kuala Lumpur.

PETRONAS Group ICT FC pitted its strength against the mighty Pata Timo FC during the last game of the group but did not make it through to the quarter-final stage. Only a win could have guaranteed it a spot in the knockout round.

The team lost its first match against PCOGD FC at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital Football Field on 1 October 2016 by a score of 2-1 despite dominating most of the game. However, they came back with renewed vigour in their match against HRCS FC and won by 3-0.

They were also instrumental in making myExplorer the game's official communication channel. The President of KSRP, Faris B Mustaffa, and Izwan Ibrahim officially launched myExplorer as the official broadcast channel for LBK 2016 on 26 September 2016.

"We mooted the idea, provided the necessary technical assistance and followed through with a simple marketing campaign." – Razif M Shahreza, Midfielder

"Although there wasn't a big turnout at the matches, we did receive a lot of virtual support from our fans through social media, especially through Facebook and myExplorer app." — M Faizal M Norizam, Team Captain
