PETRONAS Group ICT Excellence Awards is an annual recognition platform that honours and rewards Group ICT teams that collaborate to deliver positive outcomes and contribute towards PETRONAS’ key results. It aims to foster world-class quality projects, services, solutions or strategic initiatives that are on par with, if not exceed, industry standards and processes.
The awards were open to all projects, services, solutions, initiatives or its combination delivered throughout 2016 across all divisions. There was no limitation to the number of entries that departments could submit, as long as they were submitted between 10 October 2016 and 6 February 2017.
Over 30 entries were submitted, but only 29 were shortlisted, following which ten entries were selected for the final round of judging using an online scoring tool. The top 10 finalists presented in front of a panel of judges made up of representatives from Group ICT departments, Group Change Management and Downstream Business Excellence.
On the day of the awards ceremony, the 10 teams’ representatives delivered their Focused Storytelling of their projects and achievements.
On our journey towards becoming a world-class organisation, we aspire to excel in all that we do to deliver positive outcomes that impact PETRONAS' R2 or Group ICT's Key Results. We should all, therefore, be proud of the success stories that we have created with each milestone achieved," said Group Chief Information Officer Redza Goh in his opening remarks at the awards ceremony.
Eraka Naidu from the Unity Conference 2.0 team attributed their win to teamwork. “It’s the critical ingredient for any project’s success. The right team members and support from team leaders [form] the foundation of a successful project”, he said.
Meanwhile, Irene Lee Yun Na from the Enterprise Content Management team feels that excellence goes hand in hand with being able to complete a project ahead of time despite obstacles. Like Eraka, Irene feels that this award-winning project would not have been possible without the strong support from her team members.
Raymond Raj, the lead for the ICT Implementation for PFLNG SATU was pleasantly surprised that his team’s project was shortlisted. To Raymond, excellence meant collaborating using the latest technology and having the know-how in order to provide the best solutions. Touching on teamwork, he enthused that it is important for team members to leverage on each other’s skills and strengths to ensure synergy efficiency.
